Varujan Boghosian: Constructions features several major pieces, completed over the last two years, which draw on the artist's ongoing fascination with American nineteenth-century art, life, and literature. Boghosian's work refers to common period themes such as marine, still life, trompe-l'oeil, and landscape painting. His multi-layered, mysterious, sometimes whimsical constructions are comprised of found objects, which include old clay pipes, worn matchboxes, vintage toys, ephemera, and other relics of the past. Varujan Boghosian is, in essence, a storyteller illustrating, interpreting, and transforming the past, weaving together a unique narrative in his singularly poetic style. More...
